So, you want to increase your productivity but you're not sure how to go about doing it. Well, my friend, you've landed in the right spot. I've earned my title of Productivity Guru because I just might know a thing or two about it. It's time to sit back and get ready for a journey down productivity lane... When I look back to when I first started out in my online business several years ago, I was one hot mess! I thought I had it so under control but just taking one look at my working hours would tell a different story. I easily worked 12 to 14 hours a day, six days a week. I told myself it was because I was building a business. Really? Who was not being honest with herself at that point? But that wasn't the whole of it. I neglected pretty much everything else in my life but my business. I stumbled out of bed to my office and then I'd stumble from my office back to bed, most days. Luckily, I have a husband who picked up A LOT of slack around the house and meal chores! I was out of control. I spent almost every waking hour working! I woke up one morning at 5 AM tired, grumpy, and wondering if I'd made the right choice to be an entrepreneur. I was second-guessing myself, not because I didn't have work but because I had SO MUCH work. I was working about 60+ hours directly with clients. The rest of my time I spent trying to build my business further. Organization, processes, and time management was out the window! It was on that day that I decided to use my knowledge of managing time -- you know that thing that I taught others how to do -- to my advantage. I had to start running my day and stop my day from running me ragged! Here are the first three things I implemented that helped me with me to get my day under control (and get a handle on my productivity): 1. I made a schedule, with deadlines, for my tasks. I assigned each task a priority number and I put that schedule right in front of me so I could refer to it all day long. The best method for me is using my Tools4Wisdom Planner* and Schedule all-in-one book. As I completed a task, I crossed it off the list (yay for me!) and put that accomplishment in my Success Jar. 2. I began learning the power of "No". That one two-letter word is so powerful. Instead of just routinely saying "Yes" to whatever was asked of me, I began to say "No". I have to tell you, it was very freeing. The more I said "No", the more I could see a positive change in my entire attitude and outlook. 3. I chose to delegate. Yes, I finally reached out and asked for help. I started with one team member and have built up to three. All of these people are invaluable to my business. They save me time, money, support me, and are truly backbones of my successful business. Those are just three of the first steps that I implemented. I've developed an entire checklist of things to implement that are sure to help anyone increase their productivity and take back their life. Once implemented, seeing the positive changes brings faster business growth and allows time to focus on what truly counts (and, that's different for all of us)! Should you need help with learning how to manage your time better and ultimately increasing your productivity and a good work/life balance, it's one of my favorite things to tackle with my clients and you can book a session.
Remember, don't let your day run you --- you need to be running your day! You'll be amazed at what you can accomplish with the right tools laid out for you!
